Long considered Kent County’s business hub, the town of Richibucto offers a rich and impressive history at the economic, cultural and social levels. The town was incorporated as a village in 1966 and, following an economic boom and numerous commercial, industrial and residential developments, the municipality’s status changed to that of Town, in June of 1985.
Located halfway between Moncton and Miramichi, the town of Richibucto has 1,290 inhabitants. At the beginning of the 20th century, Richibucto was considered to be an important business hub in New Brunswick. The fishing industry was booming and the wharf was much patronized.
Today, this Kent County municipality relies on a diversified economic base. The fishing industry and the manufacturing sector ensure good stability. Richibucto is also home to The Imperial Manufacturing Group which employs over 400 people.
