| One
of the most prized possessions of the town of Richibucto is
without a doubt its cultural diversity.. Many artists and
crafters have chosen to live in this region to pursue their
art or craft. But what most characterizes Richibucto is its
linguistic diversity. Nowhere else will you find three cultures
as rich as the French, English and Mi’kmaq. While strolling
across town, it is common to hear these three languages throughout
the many conversations.
The
history of Richibucto is rich with legends that show the harmony
that exists between the Acadians, the Mi’kmaqs and the
English. According to certain historians, many words used
in spoken Acadian come from the Mi’kmaq language and
vice-versa for spoken Mi’kmaq.
You
will quickly realize the importance of these three cultures.
>From your first visit in Richibucto, the town’s
signs welcome you in three languages.
