| A
mid-morning walk along Richibucto’s wharf and
marina is sure to whet your appetite for a coastal
style meal. Purchase succulent seafood at the local fish shop
or enjoy a lobster feast in one of our excellent restaurants.
Add a little spice to your trip by taking part in the Richibucto
Scallop Festival, held in July. The festival presents
a parade of illuminated boats, as well as a fishing-boat race.
Enjoy
a quiet moment on foot, on a bike our rowing on the
dunes, the lagoons, the marshes and the sandy beaches.
And don’t forget your binoculars and your camera to
capture the more than 220 species of birds. Most of them can
be observed at Mooney Creek.
Be
charmed by the magical beauty of the St-Louis-de-Gonzague
church (photo on left). You must see this church and its impressive
stained glass windows that reflect the influence of the ocean
on the coastal communities. Its roof represents ocean waves
and its steeple, in the form of a lighthouse, demonstrates
the influence of the sea on this Acadian locality.
Take
the time to relax and view the ocean, while sitting comfortably
in the Louis J. Robichaud Park. Flow with the rhythm of the
fishermen by circulating freely on one of the biggest wharfs
the region has to offer. While strolling down Main Street,
take time to admire the magnificent wooden boat that was built
in celebration of the new millennium.
Before
ending your enchanted stroll, don’t miss out on the
opportunity to visit the various businesses in the region,
where you can acquire hand-made works of art and jewelry made
with beach glass. Come nighttime, you have a choice to either
camp in Jardine Municipal Park, enjoy the comforts of a seaside
inn, or relax in one of the region’s many motels and
cottages. |
